Things I’ve learned in CISB11

Below is a list of some of the many things I’ve learned during this class and while reviewing class notes.

Input and Output

Input is any data and instructions entered into the memory of a computer

Output is data that has been processed into a useful form.

Operating Systems

An Operating System is the main collection of programs that manages a computer’s activities. The primary tasks of an operating system are management and control.

Software

Application software (SW) are programs designed to perform specific user tasks, such as playing games, editing a picture or creating a spreadsheet.

Information Systems

An information system collects, stores, and processes data to provide useful, accurate, and timely information to an organization. It consists of hardware, software, people, procedures and policies

Programming

Composition of sequences of instructions, called programs, that computers can follow to perform tasks. It involves designing and implementing algorithms, step-by-step specifications of procedures, by writing code in one or more programming languages

Uses the Software development life cycle.

Digital Security

Protection of computer systems and networks from attacks by malicious hackers.
